Our Head Instructor Matthew Bowden is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Jason Miller of the Rolls Gracie Lineage and is a current serving member of the Queensland Police Service. Having excelled in full contact karate winning many Queensland State Titles, his passion for BJJ ignited when he observed Ken Florian submit an opponent in the UFC via rear naked choke. This propelled him to seek out a BJJ Academy and learn the Art. Walking into his first gym in 2010, he soon learnt to leave his ego at the door and his Jiu-Jitsu journey started. In 2019, he purchased an industrial shed in Brendale, QLD with the sole dream of sharing his knowledge of the Art with others.
